Cockenzie and Port Seton Community Gala
Sat 5 Jun · Port Seton Community Centre, Port Seton · Free
Prestonpans · Port Seton Community Centre, Port Seton

One of East Lothian's oldest galas, with a week of village events and a fancy dress parade through Cockenzie and Port Seton.
The Cockenzie and Port Seton Community Gala is one of the oldest and best loved dates in East Lothian's summer calendar, and one of the first each year. The next gala day takes place on Saturday 5 June 2027, the 79th in the gala's history, capping a full week of community events across the two villages.
Gala week builds through the days beforehand, with football for children from nursery up to P7, gala races open to all ages, a pet show with categories from waggiest tail to longest whiskers, and a best dressed shop competition that brightens up the village fronts. The week leads up to the crowning of the Seton Queen and King at Port Seton Community Centre, the centrepiece of the day.
After the crowning, the fancy dress parade sets off through the village. It pauses at Memorial Green to lay a wreath, carries on to Cockenzie High Street and the Thorntree Inn, where the fisher girls perform their traditional dance, then makes its way back along the High Street to the community centre. Bring the family, line the route, and join one of the area's proudest traditions.
