Seaweed collecting and pressing workshop for ages 6+ at the harbour.
Discover the wonders of seaweeds in this introductory session – learn more about them and turn them into beautiful art!
General
Suitable for ages 6+. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Location
The session will take place in our Learning Hub (our classroom in the building opposite the main Centre) and also include a short period on the beach a short walk away from the Centre to collect seaweed.
What will we provide?
Trays, buckets and alcohol hand-gel. A full health and safety briefing will take place before heading to the shore and members of the team will be on hand throughout to provide information and help participants find species. All craft materials will be provided.
What do you need to bring?
For the outdoor part, we recommend sturdy boots or shoes, clothing appropriate for the weather outside, a drink, any medication you may need, a mobile phone, sun protection (good weather days).
Accessibility
The outdoor part of the session includes some gentle slopes, uneven sand, rocky ground, and slippy surfaces. We will always try to adjust the pace and the route to make sure that everyone is comfortable, but please let us know in advance if you have questions or concerns. Keeping everyone safe
Our group leader is a trained first aider and will be carrying a first aid kit and mobile phone.
What if my event is cancelled?
If this event is cancelled due, we will get in touch with you the day before to let you know. You will be refunded.
