Spurs and Scotland star John White was one of the best footballers of the 1960s, however, in July 1964 he was struck by lightning and killed at 27 years old. From humble beginnings growing up just outside Edinburgh (Musselburgh), through to football fame and his tragic death, the play shares John’s cheeky humour. It also follows the story of his son Rob White, who was just five months old when his dad died. The Ghost of White Hart Lane premiered at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in July 2024 (the first live play performed at the stadium) and followed with a one month run with sell out shows at Underbelly at Edinburgh Fringe in 2024. The play follows on from the Sunday Times bestseller ‘The Ghost of White Hart Lane’ by Rob White and Julie Welch and was commissioned to mark 60 years since the death of John White. This unique tale of nostalgia shines a fresh, unique and deeply personal perspective on grief, life growing up without a father and male mental health; The Ghost of White Hart Lane is loved by audiences and critics alike.
