NEW: The New Year’s Sprint Returns to Musselburgh Racecourse for its 158th Running: A cherished Scottish tradition returns on New Year’s Day as the 158th New Year’s Sprint (110-meter) takes place at Musselburgh Racecourse. First run in 1870, the historic foot race is one of the oldest and most celebrated handicap sprint races in the world, attracting runners from across the country to compete over the famous straight course. A true New Year’s Day spectacle, the race combines tradition, competition and community spirit as participants chase glory in this iconic event.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Beyond the racing, immerse yourself in a full day of entertainment, live music and a lively ceilidh. After the final race, the celebrations carry on with a one-hour after-racing party, ensuring the festivities continue into the afternoon.
