Therapeutic sound bathing session with gongs, shruti box, and voice led by Melissa Bradd.
* Early bird tickets available until midnight 5th June. Join Melissa Bradd for an evening of therapeutic sound bathing with rejuvenating sounds from wind gong, symphonic gong, shruti box and voice. What is Sound Bathing? Sound bathing (also known as a sound bath, sound therapy or sound healing) is a wellbeing practice where you are \'bathed\' in waves of sound, instead of water. Imagine soaking in a warm bath after a long day. Similar to bathing in a bath, you are instead immersed in sound waves that produce vibrations and tones from the instruments incorporated in the session. What happens during a sound bathing session/what to expect? Your comfort is priority! After a brief introduction, you lie down and get comfortable! * Please see the ‘What to Bring’ section. At the beginning Melissa usually incorporates a gentle guided \'awareness meditation\' or what is commonly known as a \'body scan\' which encourages the body, mind, breath, senses and emotions to be more present with self and the immediate environment; supporting the process of \'noticing\' and \'letting go\' of what you are carrying within. We all know how it feels when we lay down heavy shopping bags - this is a simple tool we can connect with at any moment by simply \'noticing through awareness.\' Following on from this a variety of instruments will be played or ‘sounded’ creating a blend of sounds that will help you to unwind, forget the busyness of the world and take some time to rest. There will be a period of silence at the end before we bring our awareness back to our mind, body and senses. What to bring? People try different things to find out what works for them and are often inspired by other people when they discover what they bring to maximise their comfort. As you will be laying down for up to 90 minutes it is important to consider your own physical needs. Some people lay on a yoga mat alone while many find a yoga mat is not enough to provide sustained comfort, so please bring something additional to place on top. You can bring a duvet, blow up bed/mattress; a pillow/cushion for your head and a blanket to place over you. It is recommended you bring more than you may think you need as your body temperature may change during the session. If you have it, you can take it off, but you can’t add what you don’t have with you. An eye mask or scarf to place over your eyes may enhance your experience. Please bring water with you – people often feel the need for a drink at the end of the session. What will I feel/experience? Feedback from people who have attended past sessions with Echo Well Sound Bathing: ‘I had the best night’s sleep after’ ‘I feel reset’ ‘Like a massage for the brain’ How do you know if it is for you? You will only know by experiencing it yourself. Practitioners work in different ways and with different instruments, so it is worth exploring what is available. Like anything, we have different preferences, vibes and resonances. Please note that if you are or suspect that you are under 3 months into your pregnancy that you do not attend the session. For insurance purposes this is a requirement. Please consult your GP prior to attending if you have any mental or physical diagnosis that may be effected by sound and inform Melissa prior to the session. Why are there different ticket rates? These are what is known as a ‘sliding scale’ where you choose which aligns with your own financial situation. The early bird rate of £20 is set for a limited time only. The £25/30 rates are what follows to choose from after this period. You can contact Melissa directly if you have financial constraints but would like to attend. When can I arrive? Doors will open 10 minutes before the specified start time for the event. There is time for everyone to use the bathroom and settle in, so it is not essential to arrive early. Doors will be locked 10 minutes after the specified start time. Please remove your shoes - you can leave these in the corridor or by a coat-rack.
