Ladies Open Greensomes
Thu 27 Aug · 9:00am · Dunbar

There are over 400 years of documented golf at Dunbar, and the club itself, founded in 1856, is one of the ten oldest in Scotland still in existence. The East Links has been shaped by a remarkable lineage: Old Tom Morris redesigned it in the 1890s, with Ben Sayers and James Braid adding their own revisions. It has hosted national championships and Open Final Qualifying, and regularly draws comparisons with far more famous coastal courses.
The course occupies a narrow strip of links land pressed hard against the sea, with the beach genuinely in play and views across the Firth of Forth to Fife. At around 6,600 yards it is not long by modern standards, but the wind writes a different scorecard every day.
For a club of this pedigree the atmosphere is notably unstuffy, with mixed lounges and a family-friendly approach. Visitors are welcome six days a week (Thursdays are members only) and the clubhouse, pro shop and catering all get consistently warm reviews from travelling golfers.
Visitors are welcome every day except Thursday, which is reserved for members. Weekday visitor tee times run mid-morning and again from early afternoon, with weekend times from just after midday. Book ahead with full payment at the time of booking; refunds apply only if the course is closed on the day, so check the adverse weather policy before committing. The club expects a four-ball to get round in four hours and may pair smaller groups into tee times.
Dunbar asks for a good, neat and clean standard on and off the course rather than publishing a long list of rules. The useful specifics: tailored golf crew necks and turtle necks are fine and are not treated as collarless shirts, shorts must be tailored (single-colour tailored cargo shorts included), and beach or football shorts are out. Denim is allowed in the clubhouse only if it is neat, a uniform colour and free of rips or fraying.
Summer round £175 Monday to Wednesday, £195 Friday, £225 weekend. Later tee times from £145. Juniors £50. March shoulder rates from £120.
Prices checked July 2026 and may change; confirm with the club when booking.
