The Glen Golf Club

The Glen occupies the clifftops at the east end of North Berwick, and no course in the county gives you more view per pound. The Bass Rock and its gannet colony dominate the seaward holes, Craigleith and the Forth fill the horizon, and the par 3 13th, played towards the sea, is one of the most photographed holes in East Lothian. Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart once called the Glen Scotland's answer to Pebble Beach, and standing on the 13th tee it does not feel like an exaggeration.

The course itself is a Ben Sayers and James Braid design from 1906, recently extended to 6,321 yards, and its clifftop setting means the wind is a permanent playing partner. It is also one of the most accessible quality courses on the coast: visitors are welcome every day, practice facilities are complimentary, and the round fits comfortably inside four hours. A genuine hidden gem hiding in plain sight.
