Coffee Concert Schubert Music for Violin and Piano II: performed by Maria Milstein (Violin), Nathalia Milstein (Piano) playing Schubert; Sonatina in D major D384; Sonatina in A minor D385; Fantasy in C major D934 at Holy Trinity Church, Haddington on Fri 11 Sept 11am as part of the Lammermuir Festival. Schubert's publisher entitled these early sonatas 'sonatinas', hoping to increase sales to amateurs. They are delightfully Mozartian, but already in the A minor sonatina the young composer's bold individuality asserts itself. Maria and Nathalia end their Schubert survey with the great Fantasy in C major, composed barely a year before the composer's death.
