Coffee Concert Fibonacci Quartet I: performed by Fibonacci Quartet playing Mozart; String Quartet in D major K575 ‘Prussian’; Moravian Folksongs; Janácek; String Quartet No 2 ‘Intimate Letters’ at Holy Trinity Church, Haddington on Thu 17 Sept 11am as part of the Lammermuir Festival. In the last two or three years this young, award-winning ensemble has rapidly leapt to the forefront of European string quartets. They pair one of Mozart's greatest quartets with some of their own folksong arrangements and the stormy Intimate Letters by Moravian-born Janácek. It is deeply personal music that gives expression to his decade-long, unrequited passion for a young married woman, Kamila Stösslová, to whom he wrote some 700 love letters.
