Kurtag 100 – Kafka Fragments: performed by Claire Booth (Soprano), Tasmin Waley-Cohen (Violin) playing Kurtág: Kafka Fragments; JS Bach: Music for solo violin at Holy Trinity Church, Haddington on Tue 15 Sept 10pm as part of the Lammermuir Festival. In a year of notable anniversaries, none is more remarkable than that of the legendary Hungarian composer and pianist György Kurtág who celebrated his centenary in February. His Kafka Fragments (1986) for soprano and violin sets tiny snippets of text from the great writer. As Kurtág himself sometimes does, we interpolate music by JS Bach.
