Lodestar Trio – Folk Odyssey: performed by Lodestar Trio, Erik Rydvall (Swedish nyckelharpa), Olav Mjelva (Norwegian hardanger fiddle), Max Baillie (Violin / mandolin), Soloists from the, National Youth Orchestra of Scotland playing Grieg: Holberg Suite; Bartók: Romanian Dances; Music by Bach, Erik Rydvall, Dvorák and Olav Mjelva at Dirleton Kirk, Dirleton on Sat 12 Sept 3pm as part of the Lammermuir Festival. Bringing traditional Nordic instruments nyckelharpa and hardanger fiddle together with virtuoso violin, Lodestar Trio has had huge success at festivals across Europe and made its debut at London's Barbican Centre in 2024. Here they are joined by four talented young string players from the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland to take us on a voyage to the folk roots of well-known classics like Grieg's Holberg Suite by way of traditional and modern Nordic tunes.
